Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Thailand) by Mr. Ittipol Lertsakthanakul, EXIM Thailand’s Executive Vice President, received the “Transport Deal of the Year” in the Electric Vehicle Category at the presentation ceremony of The Asset Triple A Sustainable Infrastructure Awards 2023 organized by The Asset, Asia’s leading finance magazine, in Singapore on August 21, 2023. The accolade represents recognition of EXIM Thailand’s financial support rendered under the syndicated loan with Asian Development Bank (ADB), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Clean Technology Fund (CTF) for the electric ferry project along the Chao Phraya River of Thai Smile Boat Co., Ltd. aiming to develop Thailand’s first smart ferry fleet powered by electricity for pollution mitigation with the service route connecting with the MRT rail lines heading to the inner area of Bangkok which would help solve the capital city’s traffic congestion in the long run.
EXIM Thailand has taken part in this financial support with a view to stimulating and promoting development of innovation and technology by Thai people with capabilities on a par with international peers in electric vehicle development alongside development of mass transport infrastructure offering a commuting alternative which is eco-friendly and lessens greenhouse gases. This would respond to the objective of the National Electric Vehicle Policy Board to promote zero emission vehicles, build the low-carbon society, and reduce emission of pm 2.5 so that Thailand would be ready to embrace the National Energy Plan and use green energy toward the goal of Net Zero Emission by 2065. This effort resonates with EXIM Thailand’s vision to take the lead in driving Thailand’s trade and investment strategies for sustainable growth on the global front and a balanced economic, social and environmental development of Thailand and the world at large.
