EXIM Thailand Appoints Independent Financial Advisor for NPL Portfolio Disposal
EXIM Thailand appoints Baker Tilly Corporate Advisory Services (Thailand) Limited as independent financial advisor to oversee the disposal process of the Bank’s NPL Portfolio worth approximately 8 billion baht by 2007 year-end. Dr. Apichai Boontherawara (left), President of Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Thailand), Mr. Warwick Reginal Kneale (center), Managing Director of Baker Tilly Corporate Advisory Services (Thailand) Limited (Baker Tilly), and Mr. Yundyong Thantiviramanon (right), Baker Tilly Director, signed a contract for the appointment of Baker Tilly as independent financial advisor for the review, valuation and sales of EXIM Thailand’s approximately-8-billion-baht non-performing loan (NPL) portfolio at EXIM Thailand Head Office on May 24, 2007.Baker Tilly is part of the UK-based Baker Tilly International Group. Its engagement under the contract with EXIM Thailand includes NPL data/document preparation and review, loan valuation and benchmark pricing as well as identification of appropriate timeframe and sales methodology. It is anticipated that Baker Tilly’s expertise and experience will enable EXIM Thailand to efficiently dispose of its NPL portfolio and achieve satisfactory pricing. Baker Tilly tasks pertaining to data preparation, NPL classification and sales strategy formulation will be concluded by August 2007 while the overall sales process is scheduled for completion by the end of 2007.
