EXIM Thailand Finances RCL’s Installation of Sulfur Dioxide Scrubbers to Enhance Thai Maritime Business Development
Mr. Pisit Serewiwattana (center), President of Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Thailand), Mr. Sumate Tanthuwanit (left), President of Regional Container Lines Public Company Limited (RCL), Thailand’s major container shipping company, and Mr. Sutep Tranantasin (right), RCL’s Director and Executive Vice President (Operations), co-signed a loan agreement worth 6.5 million US dollars to finance RCL’s installation of sulfur dioxide scrubbers onboard its vessel fleet with an aim to reduce sulfur dioxide emissions in line with the International Maritime Organization’s requirements while eventually enhancing the efficiency of its containership fleet at EXIM Thailand’s Head Office on October 9, 2018. EXIM Thailand is designated by the government to provide merchant marine financing to promote utilization of Thai shipping fleet which would help to increase foreign exchange income while developing the country’s maritime business.
